Description		    First edition. [12], 70 ff. folio 335:218 mm., wide margins, light age staining, old stamps and hands. A good copy bound in contemporary boards, rubbed, split and taped.

Description		    First part of the first edition of these responsa by R. Joel Zevi ben Shimon Roth. This volume, on Orah Hayyim and Yoreh De’ah, is comprised of fifty responsa on O. H. and fifty-six on Y. D. There are approbations from R. Ezekiel Shraga Halberstam and R. Shraga Zevi Tannenbaum followed by an introduction from R. Roth’s grandson, R. Isaac Frankel, several discourses, on Hanukkah, ha-Hodesh, Shabbat ha-Gadol, Pesah, the Akedah, Rosh Ha-Shanah,, novellae on Berakhot, and then the text. At the end of the volume are novellae (66a-68a) entitled Peri Yitzhak on Gittin (55) and B. K. (66) by R. Isaac Frankel, an index (68a-69a) of the responsa and then a list (69a-70b), by location, of the individuals who helped finance publication. R. Joel Zevi ben Shimon Roth (d. 1891) was a student of R. Meir Esh and a hasid of the Divrei Hayyim of Zanz. He was the son-in-law of R. Jacob Gottlieb, av bet din of Hust. R. Roth succeeded the Maharam Shick, also serving as av bet din and rosh mesivta in Hust.
