Sha’arei Avodah – five essays on kabbalah by R. Aaron b. Moses ha-Levi Hurwitz (c. 1766-1828), the leading disciple of R. Shneur Zalman of Liady and served him for thirty years. After his rebbe’s death the author became Chassidic rebbe of Strashele, and many Lubavicher Chassidim became his followers. The book is based on the Sha’ar ha-Yihud ve-Emunah of the Likutei Amarim – Tanya. The author states in the preface that this work is not his own novellae but rather an explanation of the teachings of his rebbe.
