Decree for the estate of Jacob Ashkenazi signed by:
R. Solomon Moses b. Eliezer Suzin (d. 1836) Rishon leZion and Chief Rabbi of Erez Israel. He was appointed to the Jerusalem rabbinate as a young man and was revered by all. His approbations appear in many period books; his signature on many period documents. His name appears on Shedar documents as early as 1778 and thereafter. In 1826 he was appointed Rishon leZion, Chief Rabbi and served until his passing. An erudite and noted scholar, his responsa appears in many period works of Sephardim and Ashkenazim alike. He was the author of Pinkas le-Inyenei Halakhah (Jerusalem, National Library, Heb. 8° 378), halakhic novellae on various subjects. The work contains much material on the contemporary history of Erez Israel in general and of Jerusalem in particular.
R. Hezkiah Abraham ha-Kohen (d. 1833), Jerusalem rabbi. He was the grandson of R. Isaac ha-Kohen Rapaport, author of Batei Kehunah and their signatures appear together in 1826. A scholar of note, his name appears in many period documents.
R. Israel Raphael Hayyim Segre (d.1833), Jerusalem rabbi and kabbalist. An erudite and noted scholar, his responsa appears in the works of many period scholars, his name appears in many period documents. He wrote several works, all remain in manuscript. |
