Letter by R. Nathanael b. Jehiel haKohen Fried (1857-1916) rabbi of Balmazujvaros. Orphaned at age two he was raised by his uncle, R. Issachar Ber Friedman. He was ordained by the Pnei Arye in Madd and several other contemporary notables as a teenager. After his marriage to the daughter of R. Itzik Fried in Kisvarda he established a yeshiva there that attracted many students. He was appointed rabbi in 1894 and served until his passing. A noted scholar he wrote Pnei Meiven several volumes of novellae and responsa. |
