Description		    Only edition of commentary. 65, [1] ff., 296:175 mm., light age and damp staining, old hands and stamps on title and final ff. A good copy bound in later half cloth boards, rubbed.

Description		    Commentary on the first forty chapters of Psalms by R. Jacob Aish א"ש [Uri Shraga] Feival. The title page has a double line frame with verses between the lines on all four sides of the page. It describes Tehillot Ya’akov as seemly and acceptable, words sweeter than honey to the mouth, and that it was published by the author’s sons, Abraham and Leib. At the bottom is an attractive device with cherubims at the side. The title page is dated with a chronogram from the verse “And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-El (Genesis 35:1). The title page also has previous owners’ marks and signatures, among them, in the lower right hand corner, a seal. On the verso of the title page and on 2a are a series of approbations. There is an introduction by R. Nathan Leidsdorf of Altona, a page of novellae (3a-b) and the commentary on Psalms. Psalms are in the center of the page surrounded, in two columns, by the commentary, which is extensive and detailed. There is an afterward from Abraham, the son of the author and the volume concludes with the names, in three columns, on both sides of the page, of the supporters of publication. The attractiveness of this volume is further enhaced by the heavy fine paper on whhc it was printed. The title page informs that the author, R. Jacob Ash Feival, Av Bet Din and Rosh Mesivta in Zlotvi, is a descendant of R. Yom Tov Lipmann Heller (1579–1654). He is also the author of Bet Ya’akov Aish on Job and Rishpei Aish on the Rambam.
