Detailed Description |
|
Only edition of these discourses based on the wisdom of the sages based on Pirkei Avot by R. Dov Be’er ben Jehiel Michael Burshtain (1892-1950) rabbi of Botosani. The title page has a quote from Proverbs “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding” (1:2) and states that the discourses are in the spirit of the wisdom of Israel-Saba (the elders of Israel) and Jewish ethics based on the words of Hazal in Avot (chapter 1). The text begins with R. Burshtain’s introduction followed by his discursive commentary on the first chapter of Avot. At the end of the volume are errata and a table of contents of the subject matter addressed in Hokhmah u-Mussar, enumerating fifty-three topics, encompassing ethical subjects and the foundations of Judaism and faith.
