Only edition of this work on language and logic by R. Judah ben Israel Wahrmann. The verso of the title page has the verse “But there is a spirit in man; and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding” (Job 32:8) followed by a dedication to his father R. Israel Wahrmann, av bet din Pesth, the author’s introduction and then the text. Ma’arekhet ha-Atakot is set in a single column in square letters, accompanied at the bottom of the page by occasional notes.
R. Judah ben Israel Wahrmann was a Hungarian rabbi, the son of R. Israel Wahrmann. He was born in 1791 and died at Pesth Nov. 14, 1868. R. Wahrmann was appointed associate rabbi and teacher of religion at the gymnasium of Budapest on Feb. 9, 1851, and was, in addition to Ma’arekhet ha-Atakot, the author of Dat Yehudah, Mosaische Religionslehre (Ofen 1861; 2d ed. 1868).
