Detailed
Description
Versified exultation of life by Eliezer Mendel Avitash. Printed as a single sheet with a decorative border, the text of Ve-le-Eleazer Amar, referencing the author’s name, is comprised of four stanzas each with six lines of verse. The initial letters are enlarged to make an acronym of the author’s name, Eliezer Mendel Avitash. It begins by stating that man is the choicest part of creation and that his ways are pleasant. There are biblical allusions, for example, in the second stanza “‘a good dowry (zeved tov)’ (Genesis 30:20) ‘[You have granted me] life and favor’ (Job 10:12). He also cleverly inverts the meaning of verses, “And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, and has never eaten of good things åìà éàëì áèåáä” (Job 21:25) here reading in a moment he rejoices eating good things øâò éùîç éàëì áèåáä .
