Description
   Mathematical and philosophical work establishing a synthesis between science and tradition by R. Shem tov ben Mordecai Gefen (1856-1933). R. Gefen, who was born in the Ukraine and died in Tel-Aviv was a Talmudic scholar (both Bavli and Yerusahlmi) and was well read in Kabbalah, Jewish and general philosophy-science, and science. He is known to have been an original thinker as well as an innovator in the Hebrew language. No less a personage than R. Abraham Isaac Kook described R. Gefen as “a man with perfect Torah and scientific knowledge.” Torat Nevu’ah Tohorah has a subtitle, The Mathematical Philosophy of the Ein Sof. Below the Hebrew title is a French translation, Philosophie mathématique de l'infini : essai mathematique, basant les phénomènes de l'univers sur les propriétés mathématiques de l'infini. The text is in a single column in unvocalized Hebrew, and is accompanied by numerous footnotes.
