Description		    First edition of these novellae by R. Isaac ben Abraham Zevi Klien (d.1944). This, the first part of the work (a second volume was printed in 1936) is described on the title page as explanations and pilpulim, hiddushim, and ha-orot on sugyot in the Talmud, and the words of our rabbis, earlier and later, arranged alphabetically. This, the first part, is on the letter alef. There are approbations from R. Saul Brach of Nitra, R. Shimon Sofer, R. Samuel Engel, and R. Menahem Mendel ben JacobTannebaum, a dedication to R. Samuel ben Joseph Frankel and R. David ben Joseph Yuda Weiber, the author’s introduction, and the text. Birkat Avraham is primarily novellae ordered alphabetically followed, at the end, by homilies on the weekly Torah portion on Bereshit and a listing of the financiers who made publication possible, organized by location. The topical novellae, on the letter alef, include such subjects as the prohibition of benefit in kiddushin, aver min ha-hai le-ben Noah, not burning kodshin on festivals, and much much more. The Author perished in the Holocaust.
