Description		    First edition of this Hassidic commentary on Pirke Avot by R. Barukh Pinkhas Rabinowicz of Skolya and bound with it Ha-kasuv le-Hayyim by R. Hayyim Gelernter. The title page describes R. Rabinowicz as young and informs that he is the son of the Admor Eliezer Hayyim, a descendant of the holy Ba’al Shem Tov and of the maggid R. Jehiel Michael of Mizaltschov and other notable rabbis. There are approbations from R. Abraham Benjamin Kluger, R. Shalom Mordecai ha-Kohen, R. Simeon Babd. And R. Moses Babd. Next is the author’s introduction, an unusual Kuntres enumerating 248 mitzvot, each line beginning with Moses and then those letters forming an acronym of the mitzvah. The text consists of Avot in square letters in the center with the Bartinoro in the inner column and Divrei Barukh in the outer column in rabbinic letters.

R. Barukh Pinkhas Rabinowicz of Skolya (1873-1920) was married to the daughter of R. Asher Jehiel Rubin of Kolbuszov and settled in Brody, Galicia. He succeeded his father as rebbe in Skolya and, prior to World War I, after a short stay in Czechoslovakia relocated to Vienna where he remained for the rest of his life. In addition to Divrei Barukh the rebbe was author of Minhah Hadashah (Lvov, 1912), seventy interpretations of the first verse in Genesis; Tal Orot (Lvov, 1913), on the prayers for rain and dew; Imrei Barukh (Vienna, 1916) on the Torah; several other works, and Ez Hayyim, on Skolya minhagim, but the manuscripot was lost during World War I.

Bound with Divrei Barukh is Ha-kasuv le-Hayyim by R. Hayyim Gelernter. Ha-kasuv le-Hayyim is a responsa dealing with the subject of agunot.
