Detailed
Description
Letter by R. Yeruham Leiner (1888-1964), Admor of Radzyn. In 1924 he was ordained by R. Moses HaKohen Adamashik of Chelm and married Rebecca, daughter of R. Tzvi Hirsch Halberstadt, a descendant of R. Abraham Abish of Frankfurt. Settling in North London in 1934, he established the shtiebl Bet HaMidrash Kehal Yisrael in Willesden, northwest London, in 1935. He strongly criticized Chief Rabbi J. H. Hertz for his controversial comments - on sacrifices in his commentary in the Authorised Daily Prayer Book. A Torah scholar of great erudition, he corresponded with many leading contemporary rabbis. He wrote notes on the Palestinian Talmud, which were included in Grossman's edition of the Yerushalmi (New York, 1959), on the Mishneh Torah in the Pardes edition of Maimonides Code (Jerusalem, 1963), and cooperated with R. David Luria in Kadmut HaZohar (Tel Aviv, 1951), which tried to prove the antiquity of the Zohar. He was also the author of Tiferet Yeruham on the Pentateuch, which was published by his son (Brooklyn, 1967).

He was a profound writer on Halakhah, Aggadah and Kabbalah, and eighty-one of his articles appeared in rabbinic periodicals: Sinai, Hapardes, Hadarom, Kerem, Talpiyot, and Kol Torah. He published a commentary on the Passover Haggadah (New York, 1956) and reprinted the works of his grandfather and uncle, to which he added long introductions. In 1947 he settled in Borough Park, New York, where he passed on.
