Description		    Only edition of this compendium of seven small independent works, “sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” (Psalms 19:11). The title page informs that these works, albeit small in size, are great in value and none have been printed previously. We are informed, in small print at the bottom of the page, that the printer was assisted in bringing Arzei Levanon to press by R. Nissim Shoshan and the young Elishama, son of the elder craftsman Israel Zifroni. The title page of Arzei Levanon (Cedars of Lebanon, Isaiah 14:8, Psalms 104:16) has the quarto frame employed by Francesco Minizio (Giulio) Calvo, a printer of Latin and Italian books in Rome (1521-34) and Milan (1539-45). It is comprised of an architectural border with standing representations of the mythological Mars and Minerva with shields, above them vines and fruits. It was first used in Hebrew books in Sabbioneta and afterwards, both the original and in copy, in Venice, Salonika, and Cracow. The verso of the title page has verses in praise of the work from R. Leone (Judah Aryeh) Modena (1571–1648). The contents, specified on the title page, are: Midrash Konen (2a-6b), based on the verse, “by understanding has he established (konen) the heavens” (Proverbs 3:19). The text addresses the origin of the world, the heavens, paradise, and hell; Ha-Emunah ve-ha-Bittahon (7a-32b), located among the treasures of R. Simeon Romano. This kabbalistic work has generally been attributed to R. Moses ben Nahman (Ramban, 1194–1270) and is so described on the title page. Nevertheless, it is now believed to have been written by R. Jacob ben Sheshet Gerondi (13th century). The text is accompanied by diagrams; Sefer ha-Nikud (33a-40a), a mystical explanation of the vocalization of Hebrew letters by the Spanish kabbalist R. Joseph ben Abraham Gikatilla (1248-c. 1325); Sod ha-Hashmal (40b-42a) on the vision of Ezekiel, also by Gikatilla; Pirkei Heikhalot of R. Ishma’el Kohen Gadol (42b-46a), on Merkavah mysticism and angeology by R. Ishma’el Kohen Gagol.. The text is accompanied by several diagrams; Ma’ayin ha-Hokhmah (46b-47a), attributed to R. Jacob ben Sheshet Gerondi. This title differs from several other works with the same name; Klalei Midrash Rabbah (48a-50a), abridged form of the methodological treatise on the Midrash Rabbah by R. Abraham ben Solomon ibn Akra. In addition, le-yirei HaShem u-le-Hoshvei Shemo (Malachi 3:16), on the names of the Lord, appears on 47b. The text is in a single column in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words.

"מעיין החכמה" (נדפס אחר כך גם בשם "מעין חכמה") מספר מה שקרה למשה עם המלאכים כאשר עלה לקבל התורה.
