Detailed
Description
Only edition of this work elucidating the words of our sages in the Talmud and midrashim by R. Zev Wolf ben Zevi Elimelekh Mischel. The author was av bet din and preacher in Kimpalong in Buchovina. There is a dedication from R. Mischel to his parents, Zevi Elimelekh and Pearl who are in the city of Stsersichitz, Galicia, and then R. Mischel’s introduction, which he begins by noting that there are two parts of Talmudic literature, halakhah and aggadah. It is from these two rivers that provide life to the Jewish people, spiritual food for more than two thousand years. He discusses the difference between halakhah and aggadah, noting that the former deals with deeds, mitzvot, and statutes; in contrast, aggadah is not about actual acts but with the inner essence and soul of the mitzvot. Divrei Hakhamim is comprised of citations from Talmudic and midrashic texts, set in small square letters, that are followed by elucidations in depth in larger square letters.
