Detailed
Description
Only edition of this kabbalistic work on tikkunei ha-birs and other subjects by R. Rephael ben Hayyim Ohanah. The title page, which has a golden tint, states that it is on the work Yesod Yosef, concerning tikkun ha-bris and segulot. Many are in need of this correction, It can be seen from the Zohar and other works by leading kabbalists. The subject matter addresses sexual practices and related subjects. There are approbations from R. Jacob Saul Eliyashar; R. Raphael Abraham Calphon, R. Joseph David Abulafia, R. Aaron Ahaldaf, R. Solomon Rahamim Abualfia, R. David Vaknin, R. Solomon Sucari, and R. Jacob Ohnaha, all of Tiberius. There is an introduction from R. Ohanah and then the text, in a single column in rabbinic letters. At the end is Shir Hadaash, written when R. Ohanah was in Buchari.

R. Rephael ben Hayyim Ohanah (1850-1902) was born in Meknes, Morocco. Left an orphan by his father’s death when R. Ohanah was still very young, R. Ohanah was raised by his grandfather, R. Judah Ohanah. In 1868 both R. Ohanah and his grandfather went up to Erez Israel, settling in Tiberius, remaining there until his grandfather’s death in 1873. R. Ohanah left Erez Israel as an emissary of Tiberius, and in 1880 was in Bucharia. Wherever he went, R. Ohanah assembled the Jews and strengthened them spiritually, and was so cherished by them that they referred to R. Ohanah as the Malakh Ohanah and named their children after him. He left Erez Israel a second time as an emissary in about 1894, this time to India, and yet a third time in 1897 to Morocco. Among his other books are Tovat Mareh, (Jerusalem, 1897) on Tiberius; Mareh ha-Yeladim (Jerusalem, 1900), segulot; Nizkar Halakhah (Jerusalem, 1901), on tax on meat and possession of property; Shir Hadash (Jerusalem, 1889) praising the Jews of Bucharia, and other titles.
