Description		    Ethical discourses for Shabbat and festivals and including eulogies by R. Ma’atik ben Califa Hatav. The title page refers to R. Hatav with zt”l indicating that Hokhmah u-Mussar was published posthumously. It informs that he was also the author of Orah ve-Simhah and Sason ve-Yekar. The title Hokhmah u-Mussar is a notrikon that suggests it ethical content and concludes with the name Hatav and alludes to him so that it should be a remembrance through all the generations. There are approbations from R. Joseph Bocritz, R. Calphon Moses ha-Kohen, and R. Rahamim Hai Hveyosa, a lengthy list of the individuals who financed publication, several pages of ziyyon le-nefesh, and the text. Several discourses are for the Shabbat before Rosh Hodesh for different months, for festivals, special Shabbats, Hannukah, Shabbat Kalah, and the eulogies headed “causing the sleepers’ lips to murmur” (Song of Songs 7:10)
