Testatment (ethical will) of R. Moses ben Jacob Shimshon Hager of Kosov published with extensive glosses by R. David Shperber. There is an introduction from R. Hayyim Hager and the text, comprised of the tsava’ah at the top of the page and below le-David le-hazkir, R. Shperber’s glosses. The second part of the book is an alphabetical listing and explanation of customs covering a wide variety of subjects, both material and spiritual. Sefer ha-Tsava’ah concludes with errata.
The Hager family is the surname of the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty is the name of a Hasidic dynasty founded by Rebbe Menachem Mendel Hager. Vizhnitz is the Yiddish name of Vyzhnytsia, a village in present-day Ukraine. Kosov is a branch of Vishnits hasidus with, today, its own admorim and Hasidim. Grand Rebbe Shraga Feivel Hager is the current Kosover Rebbe of Brooklyn. He is a descendant of the Imrei Boruch and follows many of the customs of Vizhnitz. His namesake great-grandfather was a brother of Rabbi Israel Hager, author of Ahavas Yisroel. |
