Detailed
Description
Mishmarot And Ma'amadot were originally the priestly and levitical divisions in the Temple. It became the practice in the sixteenth and seventeenth century, particularly in Italy among Italian and Levantine Jews, for mystically inclined groups to form to recite supplicatory prayers to be said in the morning. These prayers, similar to Tikkun Hazzot, are comprised of prayers in both prose and verse. They are for both daily and festival use. An important arrangement of Seder Ashmorot ha-Boker was arranged by R. Aaron Berechiah ben Moses ben Nehemia of Modena (d. 1639), who also compiled Ma'avar Yabbok on the laws, and customs dealing with the ill and with mourning.
