Detailed Description |
|
Rare concise alphabetical review of the laws pertaining to Birkhat ha-Mazon by R. Zevi Hirsch Nikolsburg. The title page, which does not provide the author’s name, states that it is all the laws pertaining to a meal as well as Birkhat ha-Mazon and other dinnim from the Shulhan Arukh Orah Hayyim and additionally some esoteric laws (sod), arranged alphabetically. With it everyone can discern at the time he eats how to arrange his table before the Lord in order to rejoice on it as if he has eaten from the table of the Lord. Furthermore, added to the work is an awesome occurrence of ethical import. The verso of the title page has a brief introduction emphasizing the importance of blessings before and after eating. The text follows in a single column set in rabbinic type. Shulhan ha-Tohar is arranged by subjects, which are dinnim related to Shulhan ha-tohar; the five types of grain; netillat yadiam; and concluding with ethical reproof to distance one from bodily desires. On the final page are likkutim from the Mishnat Hakhamim of R. Moses Hagiz. |
