Description		    Discourses on a variety of subjects by R. Joseph ben David Nahmias. On the title page R. Nahmias writes that he has written this small book of discourses “for every purpose” (Ecclesiastes 3:17) and some sayings of the sages and thoughts (deserts, parparot) on the Torah for a help, “refuge and shield (Psalms 91:4) to be occupied in Torah constantly. The title page is followed by a list of the individuals, organized by community, who helped finance publication and then approbations from R. Samuel Toledano, R. Raphael David Bordogo, R. Jacob Toledano, R. Massoud ben Mu’el, T. Abraham Yifrah, R. Raphael Ankawa, R. Reuben Pinto, R. Raphael Atia, R. Elijah Dnan, and R. Abraham Abuhatzira. The text, set in rabbinic letters in two columns, with a discourse on the virtues of Torah for parashat Yitro, followed by the amud of Avodah and gemilut hassidim. There are discourses for festivals, Avot, and biblical books. From 33a Yosef Hen is discourses on the weekly Torah readings. The volume concludes with a page of errata and piyyutim.
