Description
   Versified eulogy for R. Mordecai Ashkenazi written by David Tirazini. The verse is preceded by an introductory paragraph which informs that the aron of G-d has been taken, that stood on “on Torah, avodah (Divine service), gemilut hasadim (loving kindness) (cf. Avot 1:2),that is, R.Mordecai ben Pinhas Ashkenazi, who leaves after him a blessing in the cities of Nizla, Monpirato, Silozo and Asti (in Northern Italy). The verse is comprised of thirty-six stanzas, each of four lines. The text is in bold vocalized Hebrew set in two columns. At the top of the first page is a head-piece of a winged unclothed angel sitting by an urn, his face covered by his hand, weeping. At the end is a colophon that states, here Asti, 12 Adar I 435 (1875) and below it the name of the youth David Tirazni.
