Description

Rare kabbalistic commentary on Megillat Ruth by the Sephardic sage R. Obadiah ben Zecariah Hamon of Bertinoro. The title page describes Perush Megillat Ruth as being an esoteric commentary by the kabbalist R. Obadiah of Bertinoro together with other esoterica, haluka de-rabbanim, from the author, and also other ma’amarim from rabbis from Eretz Zevi (Eretz Israel). It was brought to press by R. Jehiel Dimontlitz, who also provided the introduction. R. Jehiel describes his troubles, wandering among nations whose languages he did not understand, how the Lord placed before him this wonderful work previously hidden and sealed, and that he has joined other works with it. It was expertly edited by R. Judah Kataellenbogen and R. Isaac Gershon. The text of Megillat Ruth ends on 12a, followed by Sod HaShem le’Yereiv (12b-18a) which has the running title Sod ha-Malbush, Ma’amar le-Hatan, and several other ma’amrim, among them le-Pesah and ha-Gomel, le-Met, Milah, and others.
