Detailed
Description		    Only edition of this clever pedagogic work comprised of two hundred epigrams in poetic form by R. Mordecai Bass. The title page also has German text Jalde Schaaschuim; Eine Sammlung ebraeischer Sinngedichte, followed by a dedication to R. Bass’ father, R. Aaron ha-Levi, and a letter, in place of an approbation, from Mendel Stern, the author’s introduction in which he explains the books composition and purpose. The text is comprised of verse in quatrains set in square vocalized letters accompanied by occasional explanatory footnotes. An example of the text is verse (absent the Hebrew rhythm) is no. 19 which states

King Solomon said in his book of knowledge
“For in much wisdom there is much grief” (Ecclesiastes 1:18)
And from then Zavdie his wicked wife
Was astonished at the source of so much anger.
