Title: Jennie June's American Cookery Book , containing upwards of twelve hundred choice and carefully tested receipts ; embracing all the popular dishes , and the best results of modern science , reduced to a simple and practical form. Also, a chapter for invalids, for infants, one on Jewish cookery , and a variety of miscellaneous receipts of special value to housekeepers generally.
One of the earliest non-Jewish cook books in America with a chapter of Jewish recipes. In addition to its general cookery category, it is cross-referenced to many different topics. Included is a chapter of Jewish recipes, which the author informs us are "all original and reliable, - the contribution of a superior Jewish housekeeper in New York." The book is the first time Jewish recipes appear in a non-Jewish cook book, giving them the space of an entire chapter, pp. 319-325! The chapter appears in all earlier editions.
