Detailed
Description
Letter to a disciple on behalf of his father thanking him for sending olive oil for Hanukkah and asking for an additional shipment as much of the oil leaked from a crack in the container. R. Elijah Eichenstein, of Zhidachov (1837-1878), was the fourth son of R. Isaac Eizig of Zhidachov. He married Hinda, the daughter of R. Yehiel Leibish Erlich of Rozdol. He was the administrator of all community affairs during his father's liftime. After his father's passing, R. Elijah succeeded him, becoming the Admor of Zhidachov. He died at the age of forty-one, and in his last will and testament he urged his followers to give their allegiance to his other brother, R. Issachar Berish. His daughter, Sarah Hannah, married the son of R. Joshua Rokeah of Belz. Some of his discourses are published in Zikhron Eliyahu (Lvov, 1880).
