Novellae to Chapter I of the Even Ezer on the issue of marriage and its obligations by R. Abraham b. Simeon Sofer (1897-1982). R. Sofer the son of the Erlau Rav was born in Eger (Erlau) and studied under his father and subsequently in the Yeshiva at Pressburg where he was ordained. An erudite talmudic scholar he wrote many novellae and responsa and was the edition of the republished Meiri commentary to the Talmud. He served in the rabbinate of Corfu (1925-28), Gorizia, Italy (1928-36), Ricci (1936-39), he then settled in Erez Israel. |

אברהם סופר (שרייבר) (9 באוקטובר 1897 - 1982) היה רב ופרשן ספרות תורנית. סופר נולד בשנת 1897 (תרנ"ח) באגר שבהונגריה. בנו של הרב שמעון סופר ונינו של החת"ם סופר. בנעוריו למד תחת אביו, רבה של אגר ואחר כך רב בישיבה בפרשבורג, והוסמך לרבנות. בשנת 1921 נישא ועבר לחיות בווינה, אוסטריה. עד עלייתו לארץ ישראל שימש סופר רב, תחילה בקורפו (1925 - 1928) ולאחר מכן בגוריציה שבאיטליה (1928 - 1936) ובפיומה (1936 - 1939). בשנת 1939 עלה ארצה והתיישב בירושלים.
בימי רבנותו באיטליה החל לטפל בכתבי יד עתיקים של ספרות רבנית ולשמרם. שנים רבות עסק סופר בהוצאה מחודשת של הספר "בית הבחירה" של מנחם המאירי ובחידוש הוצאת כתביו של סבו. ספרים אלו בוארו על ידו. לסירוגין שימש גם כמורה בבית המדרש לרבנים באמריקה בניו יורק. |
