Description		    Important and detailed commentary on the Arba’ah Turim of R. Jacob ben Asher by R. Barzillai ben Baruch Javetz. The title page has an oriental frame. It is followed by R. Javetz’s introduction, in which he expresses his gratitude to those who assisted in publishing the book and an apologia from the printer who notes difficulties in printing, among them that despite having new letters and equipment there as, as with all new material, some difficulties and all did not proceed as planned. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type, each section of the book concluding with attractive tail-pieces. At the end is a detailed index.

R. Barzillai ben Baruch Javetz (d. 1760), Turkish rabbi and talmudist. Barzillai served as the av bet din in Smyrna, where he gave rabbinic discourses in the Maḥazikei Torah Synagogue, taught in his private yeshivah, and preached in the Talmud Torah synagogue. He influenced the wealthy R. Joshua Soncino to build a synagogue in his name in Smyrna and delivered a eulogy on the rabbis of Smyrna who lost their lives in the fire of 1730. In addition to Leshon Limmudim on the Turim R. Javetz also wrote Leshon Arumim (Izmir, 1749), containing homilies, annotations on Elijah Mizraḥi's supercommentary to Rashi , comments on Maimonides, and homilies by his father.
