Description		    Comprehensive book of prayers for times of need, especially intended for those who are sick, deceased, or in mourning. The text is primarily in vocalized Hebrew, all accompanied by detailed annotations and references to biblical and rabbinic sources at the bottom of the page in German. Shimon Frankfurter (1634-1712) was a rabbi and Talmudic scholar born in Posen. Banished by Polish persecutions in the year 1656, Frankfurter lived and worked in Amsterdam as a "Rabbinatsassessor" for the rest of his life. He wrote the two-part work Dine smachoth in Hebrew and in Jewish/German (under the title “Alle Dinim von Freuden”) in 1703. After Frankfurter's death, his son Moses published the same work under the title Sefer ha-Hayim in 1716. Later this work was translated into German and English. The editor Salomon Ephraim Blogg (ca, 1780-1858) was a Hebrew grammarian and liturgist. He wrote a history of the Hebrew language and literature with a short study on the Targums, Korot Leshonenu ha-Kedoshah-Geschichte der hebraeischen Sprache und Literatur (Berlin, 1826). Blogg also published numerous compilations, translations, and/or annotations of important religious texts, including Psalms and the Passover Haggadah (1829) with German translation and his own commentaries. In 1856, Blogg republished Sefer ha-Hayim .
