A short article, which was offprinted from a book entitled: "The Jews of Britain" by Sidney Salomon, published by Harrolds, Ltd, London, 1938. The book had been commissioned by the Board of Deputies of British Jews (where Sidney Salomon was the Press Officer) to counteract anti-Semitism in England in the late 1930's.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews was founded in 1760. Its 300 representatives, drawn from a broad cross-section of the Jewish community throughout Britain, are together the chief voice of British Jewry.
