Description |

On the miracle of Hanukkah by R. Isaac Leib ben Sharaga Ezra Saphir. The title page describes Nes Pakh ha-Shemen as a twelve chapter discourse to explain in a clear and faithful manner the miracle of the flask of oil (nes pakh ha-shemen) which is a seminal event in the miracle of Hanukkah. In Nes Pakh ha-Shemen R. Saphir not only expounds upon this miracle but discusses and defends miracles and miraculous stories recounting events that occurred to our forefathers in earlier times and further defends faith inour sages. The title page emphasizes this, stating that the flask of oil found by the Hasmonean in the Temple of the Lord was as recounted, and all the miracles and wonders done to our fathers were renewed over time, all without any natural cause. There is an introduction from the author, and the text in a single column in square letters.
