Description		    Only edition of this commentary on the weekly Torah readings together with discourses entitled Ohel Rahel by R. Simhah Bunem ben Abraham Samuel Benjamin Sofer, a scion of the prestigious rabbinic Sofer family. The book is in two parts, the first, with a two colored blue and orange title page, on the Pentateuch, dated “those who handle the marshal’s staff (shevet sofer)” (Judges 5:14); the second, Ohel Rahel, with it own monochrome title page but continued pagination, discourses on various subjects and a pesihah to benei yeshiva.

R. Simhah Bunem ben Abraham Samuel Benjamin Sofer (1842–1906), was a grandson of R. Moses Sofer (Hatam Sofer) and son and successor of R. Abraham Wolf (Ketav Sofer) as rabbi and rosh yeshiva of the important Pressburg yeshiva. In addition to maintaining the yeshiva he organized Orthodoxy Jewry and worked to accentuate the differences between it and other sectors of Hungarian Jewry. For this purpose, he strengthened relations with Hasidic rabbis in Hungary. He expressed his opposition to the Mizrachi conference which took place in Pressburg in 1904. His publications are: Shevet Sofer, responsa (1909) and novellae on talmudic tractates (1938–56) in addition to Sha'arei Simhah.
