Only edition of these hasidic discourses on the weekly Torah readings by R. Hayyim ben Moses Friedlander. The title page describes it as part one on the Torah and festivals. There is no indication that any other part was ever published. Tal Hayyim, published posthumously by his son-in-law, has fifteen approbations followed by the text, set in two columns in rabbinic letters. R. Hayyim ben Moses Friedlander (d. 1904), who reputedly was descended from R. Samuel Edels (Maharsha, d. 1632), was dayyan of Kisvarda. He succeeded his father-in-law as the rabbi of Liszka, a position that he held for thirty years. R. Friedlander established a yeshivah and would regularly awaken his students at 3:A. M. saying “time to arise and study. It is already late.” He only slept in a bed on Shabbat. In addition to this volume of Tal Hayyim R. Friedlander was also the author of Tal Hayyim ve-Beracha, pipulim on the Talmud. |
