Detailed Description |
|
R. Dr. Friedländer has compiled the synagogue service (i.e. the liturgy) according to Biblical, Talmudical and "utterances of the ways of Israel". R. Dr. Friedländer was the Rabbi in Pisek. This volume was printed at Adolf Löwn in Bilin. He was also the author of Die Arbeit nach der Bibel, dem Talmud und den Aussprüchen der Weisen in Israel, Geschichtsbilder aus der nachtalmudischen Zeit, Das Leben und Wirken der Juden in Oesterreich in vormaerzlichen Zeiten and others.
Pisek was a small town in Southern Bohemia, with 16,000 people, beautifully situated with the River Optava flowing through it. In the summer it became a resort town. Pisek had about 300 Jews before World War II and is remembered for the notorious blood libel case heard in Jury-Court Trial of Pisek (25 October - 14 November 1900). |
