Description		    Only edition of this commentary on the Haggadah by R. Akiva ben Eliezer of Borisov who served as av bet din in Ohilev and afterwards in Minsk. The title page further informs that R. Akiva was one of five brothers, all men of prominence, enumerated on the title page. There are approbations from R. Meir ben Isaac Eizek Auerbach and R. Elijah Joseph Rivlin. Next is the introduction, followed by Seder Korban Pesah in rabbinic letters and below, in square letters seder ha-kravot Pesah, the latter copied from the Seder ha-Yom of R. Moses ben Judah ibn Makhir. The blessings on the removal of Hametz is followed the simanim of the Haggadah, another introduction, Kiddush, an introduction, and then the text of the Haggadah with R. Akiva’s detailed commentary. The introductions reference tractates Yoma and Pesahim. The Seder ha-Kravot Pesah references the Shelah ha-Kodesh. Moses ben Judah ibn Makhir was a Rosh yeshiva in Ein Zeitun, a village in the proximity of Safed. His Seder ha-Yom is an ethical work with considerable kabbalistic content. R. Makhir, intellectually, belongs to the Kabbalistic school of Moses Cordovero (Ramak); there is no trace of Lurianic Kabbalah in the book. Seder ha-Yom=s (order of the day) is a manual outlining the practices to be followed by Jews, daily, on Shabbat, and festivals. It is also an introduction to and guide for the Jewish people in the lifestyle developed in Safed.
