Description		    Only edition of this rare mulit-part work by R. David Shifman (1852-1827). The first title page informs that there are five parts (kovets rishon kolel ḥamesh ḥovrot). They are Mevo be’er laḥai ro’i, Bene Daṿid Kohanim, Besorah Motset, Le-David be-Shanoto et ha-Ta’am lashad, ha-Ro’eh et ha-Nolad. The title page is followed by the approbations, which are from R. Abraham Ashkenazi, R. David ben Shimon, R. Samuel Salant, R. Jacob Judah Loewe, R. Moses Nehemiah Cohaniv, R. Joshua Bezalel Kantarowitz, R. Benjamin ben Samuel Mostovitz, R. Elijah Salemain Neni, R. Abraham Rashkovitz, and R. Raphael Maman. After the approbations is a second horizontal title page, giving more detail on the five parts of the book. Mevo be’er laḥai ro’I is on R. Jacob Brull’s (1812-89) Mevo ha-Mishnah; Bene Daṿid Kohanim; Bene Daṿid Kohanim is on R. Jonathan ben David ha-Kohen of Lunel’s Avodat ha-Kohen; Besorah Motset is on R. David Tebele Efrati’s (1850-84) Toldot Anshe Shem; Le-David be-Shanoto et ha-ṭTa’am lashad is on R. Elijah Benamozegh’s (1823-1900) Ta'am le-Shad, a refutation of R. Samuel David Luzzatto’s Vikku'ah al Ḥokhmat ha-Kabbalah, in which Luzzatto denied the antiquity of the Zohar and the theological interest of Kabbalah; and ha-Ro’eh et ha-Nolad on R. Jacob Reifmann’s (1818-1895) critical biography Toledot Rabbenu Zerahyah ha-Levi.

שני שערים. השער השני נדפס לרוחב העמוד בדף [6, ב]. הערות לספרים שונים. לא יצא יותר.
