R. Rahamim ben Moses Bukhrits, a prolific author, writes in the introduction to his Bigdei Shesh (Livorno, 1878) that his father Moses and his mother Basadi, merited to go up to Jerusalem, where they died in 1878. He describes his father as an unusually humble man, aged, of great countenance, very pious, and of great repute. R. Bukhrits served, together with his brother-in-law, the brother of his wife, R. David Kohen Gisha, on the bet din, the two being very close. R. Bukhrits’ son-in-law was the rav roshei in Djerba. In his later years R. Bukhrits went up to Jerusalem, where he died in 1913. The day after R. Bukhrits died his brother-in-law, R. David also passed away. In addition to Kol Bikhyi, R. Bukhrits was the author of Minhat Hadasha ve-Kol Erev on Proverbs, Bigdei Shesh on Pirkei Avot (Djerba, 1914), Kodesh Hillulim on Psalms, Peter Rehem on the Haggadah, Pardes Rimmonim on the Torah, Hiluka di’Rabbunim, novellae and allusions, Arkhei ha-Hakhamim, an alphabetic collection of the words of the sages, and Sha’ar Me-Ta’amim on the ta’amim. Not all of R. Bukhrits’ works have been published.
