Detailed Description |
|
A printed receipt, in Yiddish, with the date, the name of the contributor and the signature all written in. The contributor was Getzl Schreiner, who donated 2 Kroner. The receipt is signed by Noach, the son of Binyamin Zeev Katz and is stamped with a stamp that shows his name also to be Nathan Kainer, of Jerusalem. No specific charitable organization is mentioned, so it seems to be a general contribution for the Jews who were living in Jerusalem at the time. The receipt also gives a blessing to the contributor for his generosity.
The back has a prayer, in Yiddish, to be recited before candle lighting (on Friday evenings). It also has an illustration of a menorah, with lettering indicating symbolic references for each branch of the menorah.
