Detailed
Description
Only edition of this alphabetic work on Shabbat and Rosh Hodesh by R. Mevorakh ben Musa Brants of Tripoli. The text of the title page begins with the verse from which the book title is taken “Behold, thus shall the man be blessed (yevorakh gever) [who fears the Lord] (Psalms 128:4) and continues to gather “Asaph, the recorder” (II Kings 18:18, Isaiah 36:3) from books, early and later, “a word spoken in due season” (Proverbs 15:23). It informs that included are necessary halakhot for “every new moon, and every sabbath, all flesh come to worship the Lord” (cf. Isaiah 66:23) and fulfill the Torah. There are introductions from R. Brants and R. Camos Musa, followed by approbations from rabbis from Tripoli, R. Joseph Rubin, R. Rahamim Haviv, and R. Hayyim ha-Kohen. The text is arranged by subject alphabetically and encompasses much more than just halakhot for Shabbat and Rosh Hodesh., but rather is almost encyclopedic in the variety of topics addressed.
