Detailed Description |
|
Die naye amerikanishe hagode by Abraham Michael Scharkansky (1869-1907), first published in 1899, is a satirical Haggadah which describes life in America at the turn of the century. Davidson (p. 109) describes the work "that in the loosely connected skits, he succeeded, perhaps unconsciously in catching the spirit of restlessness which hovers over the turbulent existence of the Jews in New York City." |
