Detailed
Description
Very rare and unusual translation of the Turkish penal code to Ladino work in Hebrew rabbinic letters. It is comprised of 264 paragraphs dealing with hok onshim, that is, the statutes of punishment. Yaari, in his description of Kanon Nami correctly notes the number of entries but gives the pagination as 63 pp. whereas this copy has 73 pp. He also notes that it lacks a title page but this copy not only has a title page but also a front wrapper with a decorative design. Yaari relied on the copy in the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary, which apparently lacks the front matter; the JNUL apparently not having a copy of this rare work. This copy is complete and has its original wrappers.
