R. Dr. Maurice Fluegel (1832-1911), rabbi, author, and historian. He began to write at 20 years of age and published his works successfully at Leipzig and Paris where he had studied at the Sorbonne. He immigrated to America in 1864 and occupied his time with promoting education so as to prevent his pupils from living on handouts and charity.
