Detailed Description |
|
The title of this work translates as " Particulars about the demographic processes among the Jewish population of the towns of Lodz, Krakow and Lublin during the German occupation." The author, Dr. Abraham Melezin (d. 2008) was formerly a teaching assistant at the University of Stefan Batori in Vilno, Poland and after World War II, University of Marie Curie Sklodowska, Lublin, Poland. He was a survivor of the Vilno ghetto, a death march, and Stutthof concentration camp and more recently was a emeritus professor of geography at City College. Family members reported that "he kept himself sane[during the War] by tracking the Allies and Russian army as they advanced to liberate Nazi-conquered territory” on a map hidden in a hole in the wall." |
