Description
Religious discourses by Benedict Hause. The title page describes it as Religiöse Reden bei freudigen Familienereigenissen nebst einem Anhange (religious speeches with a joyous family orientation with an appendix). Hause is described as a teacher in the public Isrealite school. There is a forward from the author, and then the text, whichis comprised of twenty three discourses plus an appendix with four additional discourses. The text is in raktur with occasional Hebrew. subject matter is varied, including such topics as engagements (Verlobungrede), rede-ñáìåðåú (the groom’s speech), Engagement spe3ech (Trauungerede), Wedding speech (Rede bei einem hochzeitsmahle); Speech at the dediation of a new hoiuse (Rede bei einweihung eines Wohnauses); Speech for a bar mitzvah (Rede bei einem Barmizwah-Mahle); Speech for a silver wedding anniversary (Rede bei der Feier einer silbernen hochzeit); and many others. Several topics are addressed more than once and several are related to the weekly torah reading or other occasions such as Pidyon ha-ben.
