Detailed Description |
|
Only edition of this eulogy by R. Samuel ben Meir Zilkh for his father R. Meir Zilkh av bet din in Lisk. There is an introduction by R. Samuel Zilkh in which he informs that he has entitled this eulogy for his father Nahalat Shivah for his intent is not to send books out to the world except for the n works that he left over, that is, seven sons, and that this notebook (mahberet) is for them to tell over to their sons the greatness of their father. Also his name is in the gematria of shiva (שמואל = שבעה = 377). He has therefore sent it to Breslau to be printed by his brother Abraham. R. Samuel Zilkh begins his eulogy “Moses was one hundred and twenty years old [when he died] his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. And the people of Israel wept for Moses” (Deuteronomy 34:7-8).
