Description		    202 pp. 16 mo. 118:77 mm., light age and damp staining. A good copy bound in contemporary boards, rubbed and split.

Description		    Miniature book on the excellence of the Jewish soul based on the Talmud and midrashim attributed to R. Moses ben Hayyim, Koznitser (d. 1874). The title page informs that it is selections from Talmud, midrashim, and holy poskim from the author of Divrei Torah, Zeidah le-Derekh, and Sefer ha-Hayyim who is now resident in Jerusalem. The bottom half of the page is in Cyrillic letters. This title page is followed by a second title which gives the place of publication as Jerusalem. That title page states in Romemat Nishmat Yisrael the primary name of Adam is explained which is a holy soul and that the principle sould is the intelligence and speech. The body is called flesh of man “and upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured” (Exodus 30:32). It is necessary to continuously show that the soul is exalted and that the soul which is intelligence should rule the body. There is a approbation from R. Meir ben Itzik who was av bet din in Kalisch. There is an lengthy introduction, a table of contents enumerating the 48 she’arim that comprise Romemat Nishmat Yisrael and then the text. It appears that Romemat Nishmat Yisrael is also known as Ahavat Yisrael.
