Description		    Judeo-Arabic edition of this popular collection of all the stories from the Talmud Bavli and Yerushalm by R. Solomon ben Isaiah Joseph Vilf. The text is set in square Hebrew letters. The title page describes it as part one, although it is not clear that any additional volumes were published. The tales are in the order of tractates in the Talmud, here from Berakhot through Hagigah. Bound with it is Ma’aseh Azov ve-Gariv by R. Meir Lehman which is a Judeo-Arabic translation of Shoshanat ha-Amakim. The latter work has separate pagination but does not have its own title page. At the end of the volume is a translation of the story of Tuvia ha-Rofei. The translation to Judeo-Arabic was done by R. Meir ben Mordecai Cohen.

Among R. Solomon ben Isaiah Joseph Vilf’s other titles are Mevo ha-midrash, Hitnahagut ha-derekh, Imrot Shelomoh, and Hupat hatanim

"ספר מעשי הגדולים ... מתורגם בלשון ערבית ... מאסף ... המעשיות ... אשר הן באסופת התלמוד נזכרות ... אסף אותן ... ר' שלמה ווילף ... נאום ... [המתרגם] מאיר (בן רבי מרדכי) הכהן". המעשיות מסודרות לפי סדר המסכתות, ממסכת ברכות עד סוף פרק א של מסכת חגיגה. כז דף: "מעשה עזיב וג'ריב, תרג'מת ספר שושנת העמקים [מאת מאיר להמאן]". בסוף הסיפור, דף כז,א: "תרג'מהו ... מקיקץ השלי ... שנת 5706, בדפוס בועז חדאד". ["מעשה מופלא ומוזר, תרגום ספר שושנת העמקים"]. דף כז,ב ואילך: "תרג'מה מן כתאב טוביה הרופא" ["תרגום מן ספר טוביה הרופא"]. עצות רפואיות וסגולות. המקור העברי של "מעשי הגדולים" נדפס לראשונה בלעמבערג 1886. הסיפור "שושנת העמקים" (המקור הגרמני: Chiera Esther) נדפס בווילנא תרמ"ח, בתרגומו של צבי הירש ראטנר. ספרו של טוביה הרופא (טוביה בן משה ירמיהו הכהן) "מעשה טוביה" נדפס לראשונה בוויניציא תס"ז. כל הספר בערבית, באותיות עבריות.
