Zecut Avot is chapters of Mishnayot to be learned for a Yartzheit. The chapters are arranged according to the order of the Hebrew alphabet, each letter beginning a chapter. The text is accompanied by a commentary in Yiddish, at the bottom of the page, entitled Migdal David. The volume concludes with the testament of R Sheftel ben ha-Shelah (R. Isaiah ben Abraham ha-Levi Horowitz), and a eulogy on the death of a father. R. Samuel David Sobel of Mir served as rabbi in New York City. He is also the author of a commentary on Shir ha-Shirim entitled Migdal David (London, 1899, reprint New York, 1907).
