Detailed Description |
|
A letter marked "personal and confidential" letter by the former Prime Minister of Israel to Menachem Ussishkin. The text revolves around a meeting Ben-Gurion and Weitzman had with an unnamed British official expressing regret for having signed the Balfour Declaration. Especially galling to the British was the rapid growth of Jewish immigrants and its consequences. The feeling was anticipated by Ben-Gurion who expresses his distrust of the British and fears a double cross by them just as they double crossed the Czechs. In public these feelings were never expressed. A small portion of this letter was printed in his Memoirs. |
