Detailed
Description
Ever since, Jews have sought to care for the underprivileged. Throughout history there have always existed large numbers of Jews in need of help and organizations to accommodate. The one name invoked most often “Rebbe Meir Ba’al Ha’Ness” was utilized to collect monies throughout the Diaspora to help the settlers in Eretz Israel. It was, likewise, the one name invoked most often with controversy in administration of collection and distribution activities. The current lot involves such a controversy in the Hungarian villages of Munkacs, Vishnitz, Drohbich, and several more. The victim in these battles was the underprivileged who were in desperate need – yet held hostage to the competing administrators.
