   4 volumes, quarto, 205:165 mm., usual light browning, titles in red and black. v.1: [6], 40, 1161, [33], 24 p., engraved plate of a library as frontpiece; v. 2: [10], 1484 p.; v. 3: [8], 1226, [60] p.; v.4: [14], 1226, [72] p., engraved portrait of Wolf as frontpiece. A near fine copy bound in uniform contemporary vellum.

Description
   A remarkable assemblage of Hebrew manuscripts and books, compiled by the scholar and theologian, Johann Christoph Wolf (1683-1739). Wolf studied under Fabricius and received his doctorate in philosophy at the age of 20. A fter research in the Netherlkands and England, notable in the Bodleian, he took the chair of oriental languages at Hamburg. Wolf himself amassed a magnificent libvrary of books and manuscripts, with particular emphasis on oriental and rabbinical studies, and a fine collection of autograph letters. This library he bequeathed to the city of Hamburg.
